Mt. Iimori

During the Boshin Civil War, when a group of 20 16-to-17-year-old teenagers from the 2nd brigade of the "Byakkotai" military unit retreated from the Battle of Tonoguchihara, they traveled through a side road of the Takizawa Pass and passed through the tunnel of the Tonoguchi Dam before arriving at Mt. Iimori. There, they saw the keep of Tsuruga-jo Castle enveloped in black smoke and thought: "As the castle falls, so shall we for our lord"." There area is now the site of their final resting place.

- The Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center and the ticket-selling area at the start of the Moving Slope are good places to get information. ※The Mt. Iimori Tourist Information Center is closed during the winter. (early Dec. to late Mar.)
