Bunshokan
Bunshokan is the former prefectural government office. It is a Renaissance-style building representative of the Western-style architecture of the early Taisho Period. The building is currently open to the public as the Yamagata Prefecture Local Museum, and admission is free. The building is also attracting attention as a location for movies.

- 15 minutes on the “100 Yen Bus” from JR Yamagata Station’s east exit (get off at the Hatagomachi-nichome stop; walk for five minutes).

- 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed
- Closed on the first and third Mondays of the month. (However, if a public holiday falls on the first or third Monday, the museum will be closed the following day). Closed at the end of the year and beginning of the year (December 29 to January 3).

- Approximately 10 minutes by bus on the Yamagata City Hall transit (Shiyakusho Keiyu) route from JR Yamagata Station (get off at the Yamagata Shiyakusho-mae stop; walk for one minute).
